Hi, my name is Frank Riegel
I was born in 1954 in Schwenningen, Germany, and was raised by caring and health conscious parents. Saunas, long Sunday walks, swimming, soaking up sunshine in moderation, massages etc were constantly on the agenda. My grandmother taught me many simple natural remedies, which sometimes did not taste too good. One of her favourite sayings was: “Bad tasting things must drive bad things away”. That daily table spoon of cod liver oil (capsules were unkown of in the 1950’s) did not go down too well with me! But I got used to it. Her best cough medicine was a concoction of onions and sugar – it still works well these days. It is probably the only time I would be recommending the use of sugar to combat some sort of an illness.
Our family doctor preferred to employ natural means of healing, be it hot or cold compresses, simple freshly squeezed lemon juice in hot water, bed rest, high doses of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) or similar. He only prescribed drugs when it was absolutely necessary and as a last resort. What’s more: he took his time to listen to his patients! (this is rarely seen these days……..)
In 1972 I embarked on a career in the shipping industry, which culminated in the position of Master Mariner (Ship’s Captain).
During the latter years of that career I lost some very close friends and relatives to cancer. It was then that I realised that there was something “fishy in the State of Denmark” – so to speak.
Being curious and a “natural investigator” I decided to go back to school and study natural medicine in a true naturopathic fashion and with a focus on nutrition (not to be mistaken with mainstream dietetics). The subject of cancer absolutely fascinated me. I felt that I had the ability and communication skills to help some people on this planet to prevent or even overcome the disease of cancer. During my studies I have developed an interest in natural fertility and women’s health.
I have been working in the natural health section of various Melbourne and Sunshine Coast based pharmacies and I am consulting with patients on a one-to-one basis in these pharmacies and in my home practice.
